New Material Recovery Facility in the Red Sea

View of Port Ghalib, Red Sea
HEPCA (Hurghada Environmental Protection and Conservation Association) has agreed to a Memorandum of Understanding in anticipation of constructing a second Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Port Ghalib.

The new Facility will service over 4000 rooms in the Port Ghalib development and will also provide waste collection, separation and recycling for the rapidly expanding airport. The funding for the project is kindly provided by Vodafone.

The MRF not only focuses on the collection and recycling of waste, but also provides valuable employment for the local community and generates income through the selling of recyclable material. The MRF in Marsa Alam has already led to a substantial increase in environmental awareness and education throughout the entire region, and HEPCA is sure to see a similar positive effect with the second MRF.

HEPCA is still in consultation regarding a MRF for the Hurghada region.
